Edward Keegan, 76
Edward A. Keegan, who owned and operated Eddie’s Automotive (now Mickey’s Automotive) in Sleepy Hollow, died December 19. He was 76.
Mr. Keegan was born June 11, 1933 in White Plains and was a member of the first graduating class at Stepinac High School. He went on to serve in the United States Army Automotive Division in France. He will always be remembered for his love of fishing. He was a member of Trout Unlimited.
He is survived by his wife, Norma, three sons, five grandchildren and two sisters.
Muriel Plunkett, 92
Muriel Cecelia Plunkett, who worked for many years at Marymount College in Tarrytown, died December 7. She was 92.
Born December 13, 1917 in Brooklyn, Mrs. Plunkett had a lifelong interest in the education of children and a joyous devotion to her children and grandchildren. She was a longtime parishioner of Transfiguration Church in Tarrytown and a member of the Transfiguration Women’s Club and the Ladies of Charity.
She is survived by two sons, including Kevin of Tarrytown, one daughter, 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Donations may be made to the Plunkett Family Scholarship Fund at Transfiguration School, 268 South Broadway, Tarrytown, NY 10591.
Esther Damin, 88
Esther M. Damin, a longtime Sleepy Hollow resident, died December 6. She was 88.
She worked at Eastern Aircraft during World War II and over the years raised 28 children while providing child care in her home. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 1939 in Sleepy Hollow and was an avid Bingo player.
She is survived by three children, including Bernadette Schafranski of Tarrytown and Patricia Damin of Sleepy Hollow, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Barbara Loescher, 69
Barbara May Loescher, a lifelong resident of Tarrytown, died December 1. She was 69.
Mrs. Loescher was born May 6, 1940 in Tarrytown. She worked for many years as a food service worker for Flik International. She was a lifelong parishioner of Transfiguration Church. She is survived by five children, six grandchildren and two brothers.
John Durko, 71
John J. Durko, who was born in North Tarrytown, December 3. He was 71.
Mr. Durko was a graduate of Iona College and served in The Marine Corps Reserve. He worked for IBM for many years. He is survived by Ellen Jean, his loving wife of 42 years, five children and 15 grandchildren.
Steven Zaicek, 39
Steven Paul Zaicek of Greenwood Lake and formerly of Sleepy Hollow died tragically at the age of 39. Born in North Tarrytown on June 9, 1970, he was the son of Michael and Norma Ciancaglini Zaicek. He was a graduate of Pace University in 1992 and operated his own business, New York Metals.
Steven was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother and family man. He was always smiling and above all he loved his family and life. He also loved fishing, boating and golf.
Catherine Lowery, 85
Catherine C. Lowery, a resident of Sleepy Hollow, died December 6. She was 85.
She was born July 7, 1924 in Ossining, attended Ossining schools and was valedictorian of her high school class before receiving a BA in English from the College of Mt. St. Vincent and an MA from Western Connecticut State University. A former resident of Yorktown, she taught in the Yorktown school district for more than 25 years. She was also president of the League of Women Voters, the first Yorktown Town Historian and a charter member of the friends and volunteers who started the town’s museum.
After moving to Mount Kisco, she remained active in community affairs as she delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered for numerous organizations, including the literacy program through the Mt. Kisco Library, the Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Master Gardner Program, the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens field station at Kitchawan and Friends of Lasdon Park and Arboretum.
Anne Doorley, 83
Anne M. Doorley, a former Tarrytown resident, died December 10. She was 83.
She was born February 20, 1926 in Tarrytown. She was an antique enthusiast and owner of Now & Then Antiques in Nyack. She was an avid collector of John Wright Dolls and published a book entitled, Felt from the Heart.
Claudette Long, 72
Claudette R. Long, a longtime Sleepy Hollow resident, died November 26. She was 72.
She was born in New Brunswick, Canada and on August 15, 1964 married Samuel Long at St. Teresa of Avila Church. She was a member of the French American Club in North Tarrytown.
Eileen Gallagher, 83
Eileen Gallagher, a longtime resident of Tarrytown, died November 24. She was 83.
She moved to Tarrytown in 1956 and became director of nursing at Phelps Memorial Hospital. She worked as a nursing administrator for over 50 years at Phelps and Westchester Medical Center.
