The Place To Be The Life Of The Party For All Ages
Steven Zuckerman was having a mid-life crisis -- maybe.
His wife, Sharon Zuckerman, explained. “Steven was looking for a change for a couple of years. Coming from a special events background, he wanted to do what was natural; the next step is what we call it.”
The germination of that “next step” is Life The Place To Be (2 Lawrence Street, Ardsley, (914) 591-4400, www.lifehtheplacetobe.com), a 29,000-square-foot family entertainment and event venue which the Irvington couple owns.
Steven Zuckerman looked at 52 buildings prior to selecting the location, and he and Sharon both agreed the building was the one for various reasons: it was big, close to home, centrally located, and had beautiful sky lights.
The idea came from being in special events business and living in Westchester County. “Visiting competition, we realized what was missing. Having kids really helped, too!,” Steven said. “We also saw a need for an alternative event venue that was not a hotel or a country club. There is nothing like it anywhere nearby.”
Life The Place To be offers exclusive catering; accommodations for 30 to 1,000 people; 56 arcade games; a rock climbing wall and play structure with padding for kids; a toddler room with couches and Wi-Fi access; four mini AMF bowling alleys; laser tag room, and plasma and projections screens in the huge rotunda café area where those on line can watch all the action. An annual membership is offered and, although you don’t have to be a member to enjoy Life The Place To Be (there is a special Day Pass worth two visits per years for $10 admission for up to three guests), it does have its advantages. Annual Membership of $275 packs a wallop with discounts on birthday parties, 10% off food purchases at Café Eats, The Life The Place To Be eatery, four Guest Passes per visit, use of facility minus parental supervision for those 12 and older, and entry to exclusive events.
“People who join,” said Sharon Zuckerman, “and come again and again, meet their friends here and make new friends.” Memberships for firemen, policemen, EMS workers, and military personnel are free.
Overall, Life The Place To Be is a very special spot to be with children, family, and friends. It’s a spot the Zuckerman’s want visitors to be happy at, with all the essentials for fun and function.
“We are and will continue to make Life the best family destination there is. Life can be transformed to be so many things. We can have all kinds of kids and adult birthday parties; we can have an out of this world bar Mitzvah or make a Sweet Sixteen happen for a girl who never thought she would have a party. The spectrum of things we can do with the space is mind blowing. It is really rewarding to make them happen, too.”
Then there’s that little thing called having a dream.
“I think it is very important for people to follow their dreams. Dreams don’t just happen -- people make them happen,” Sharon Zuckerman said. “It is not easy. It is very hard. You have to REALLY want it, and then you have to really work at it.”
