Mrs. Lisa Sabour, 43,

Mrs. Lisa Sabour, 43, of Irvington, passed away on Wednesday morning,
May 26, at Phelps Memorial Hospital of Colon Cancer.
Lisa was born on August 27, 1966 in North Tarrytown. She was raised
in Irvington and returned there to raise her own family. She
graduated from Irvington High School and received her B.A. from
American University, where she studied Art.
Lisa was passionate about the world and traveled extensively, choosing
to live abroad in both Florence and Nice. This experience led her to
her career in the travel industry.
Lisa was a talented photographer and added her creative flair to all
that she did. She loved spending hours working in her garden, which
was a place of joy for her, as well as her friends and family.
Of all her passions, Lisa was most passionate about her family. She
is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Majid Sabour and her two
beautiful children, Kenzy (5) and Leila (3). Lisa is also survived by
her parents, Rudolph and Bruna Croese of Sun City Center, FL who own Rudy’s Beau Rivage; her devoted brother Peter Croese (Antonella) of Croton-on-Hudson, NY; and her much loved nieces and nephew.
A Memorial Service and Colon Cancer Awareness Event for Lisa will be
held on Sunday, June 13th 3 p.m. at The Double Tree Hotel Tarrytown,
N.Y.
In Lieu of Flowers, donations to will be greatly appreciated. All
proceed will go to Lisa’s colon cancer awareness cause,

William Campbell, 49

William Gilmore Campbell, a long time resident of Irvington, died April 21. He was 49. Mr. Campbell worked as a senior proposal management consultant for Verizon Business in Purchase. He was born in Dobbs Ferry and graduated from Irvington High School in 1978. He then graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a B.S. in Natural Resources in 1983. He was an avid sailor and member of the Ossining Boat & Canoe Club.

Lorraine Nichols, 75

Lorraine Dolores Nichols, who was valedictorian of the North Tarrytown High School Class of 1952, died April 30. She was 75. Born in Tarrytown she married Frank J. Nichols Sr. on May 5, 1955. They lived in Tarrytown until March 1995, when they retired and moved to Queensbury, NY.

Mary Knapp, 92


Mary Elizabeth Glines Knapp, a long time resident of Irvington who was nicknamed “Ibbets,” died peacefully May 11 at Kendal on Hudson in Sleepy Hollow. She was 92. She graduated from the Scarborough School and from Wellesley College. After college she worked and modeled for Harper’s Bazaar magazine in New York City. In 1941, she married Richards Wolcott Knapp. After the war they returned to live in Irvington-on Hudson and raised their two daughters.

Mrs. Knapp was always devoted to her community and volunteered for the Church of St. Barnabas, the Junior League of Tarrytown, Irvington Garden Club, and the Thursday Club. She was also a remarkable artist and her portraits and paintings are treasured by her family and numerous friends. Twenty of her paintings were exhibited at Kendal on Hudson in 2008.

John Nagle, 67


John J. Nagle, a former fire chief in Tarrytown, died May 1 in Stockton, CA. He was 67. He graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Waccamaw. He was vice president of J.J. Nagle Realtors and served as chief of the Tarrytown Volunteer Fire Department, where he was a life-active member of Hope Hose Company.

Helen Tubal, 91

Helen Tubal, a lifelong resident of Sleepy Hollow, died May 3. She was 91. Born in North Tarrytown, she married Julio Tubal on August 13, 1943 in White Plains. She is survived by two daughters, one son, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Carmella “Millie” Melito, 94

Carmella “Millie” Melito, a long time Irvington resident, died May 6. She was 94. She was born in Dobbs Ferry and was a telephone operator with Bell Telephone for 32 years. She was a member of the Pioneers. Millie also volunteered at the VA hospital in Montrose and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 1048 in Dobbs Ferry. She enjoyed reading and gardening.

Armand Minardi, 82

Armand M. Minardi, a longtime resident of Tarrytown, died May 22. He was 82.

Born May 1, 1928 in New York City, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

In 1991, he retired from General Motors where he had worked for many years. He was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Sleepy Hollow, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was also a life active member of Phoenix Hose Company #2 of the Tarrytown Fire Department, a member of Local 664 of the UAW and a founding member of the Giuseppe Garibaldi Lodge of I.T.A.L.O.

Barbara Morris, 84

Barbara Jago Morris, who had a smile and open heart for everyone, died at home with her family by her side, on May 21 in Roseville, CA. She was 84.

Born May 3, 1926 in Dobbs Ferry, she lived throughout the country in a variety of states, including Vermont, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Connecticut and California.

In addition to raising her three children, one of her proudest accomplishments was working as a registered nurse in New York City and later in life working in private practice.

She also found great joy in life with her horse, her art and her church. A proficient horsewoman for more than 30 years, she competed at the local and regional levels in dressage. Her passion also led her to manage and judge horse shows as well as traveling internationally in support of the United States Equestrian team.

Her artistic nature was expressed through knitting, needlepoint and weaving. In her 70s, she found painting and sketching. She also had a broad interest in musical instruments, including the piano, guitar, dulcimer, recorder and harmonica.

Mrs. Morris was a devout Christian. For over a decade she provided a home for foster and Native American children. Later, she became an active leader in spiritual retreats and Bible study groups. In 2008, she was selected “Woman of the Year” by the St. Clare Women’s Guild for her service and dedication to the parish.

Among her many associations she was particularly proud of her membership in the P.E.O., a philanthropic organization dedicated to promoting higher education for women.

She is survived by, Robert Jr, her loving husband of 59 years, three children, Robert III (Trey), Andrea, and Leah, and four grandchildren, Bremner, Ana, Sonia, and Leah.
