Computer Consulting Business Specializes In Human Touch

Jamie Kudla, owner of seven-year-old Tarrytech Computer Consultants (www.tarrytech.com, 828 South Broadway, Tarrytown, 914-432-3056), majored in Mechanical Engineering in college because he liked “all things technical.”

“For me,” he explained with a smile, “I like a little human interaction. I find tech exciting. You get to know people, and it’s very interactive. And I like to reach out to people.”

Kudla resides in Tarrytown with his wife of 10 years, Barbara, who also serves as the Tarrytech accountant. The couple are parents to Louis, nine, Katie, eight, and three-year-old William. He’s a local guy with a local business with a focus on helping and protecting your data.

“In this day and age,” said Tom Conklin, executive director of the Hudson Valley Make-A-Wish Foundation, “we are right now working on 140 wishes in the Hudson Valley area. Our focus in on granting wishes and raising money to grant wishes. We look for partners to take care of needs so as to not have to drain our time so we can concentrate on our services. The close proximity (to Tarrytech) provides a good service. They set us up for remote use of employees, and they’re very responsive and professional.”

Tarrytech specializes in supporting small and medium size businesses. “There are critical pieces…a core 20 critical things businesses need,” Kudla said.

Those 20 things comprise the Shadow Support System, a Tarrytech creation and specialty. It’s four-pronged, and includes Proactive Technology Management, Network Administration, Technology Consulting and Reactive Support Services.

“It’s the whole package – Shadow works for all of it,” Kudla said. “It’s full tech management for businesses and non-profits for a flat fee per month. We holistically take a look at your network and try and produce predictable results for a predictable price.”

The Proactive Technology Management part consists of patch, anti-spyware and spam management, in addition to desktop optimization, documentation, remote backup, and monitoring.

“We’re a network administration with eyes,” said Kudla, noting if your system goes down, Tarrytech is at the rescue. Reactive Support Services is the help desk and on-site support, problem isolation and resolution, answering customers “how to” questions, and remote access and support framework.

“Clients are comfortable talking with me,” said Kudla, “and I help them understand the benefits.”

The benefits of Tarrytech, according to Kudla, is being the client’s dedicated network administrator, providing a technology checklist, suggesting best practices, and providing a centralized service report review. Tech Consulting is where Kudla meets with the client quarterly and becomes their dedicated VCIO (Virtual Chief Information Officer), sitting down and discussing the technology summary, designing desk resources, budget planning and the business impact of technology decisions.

The key to Tarrytech Computer Consultants’ success is availability, 24 hours, seven days a week.

“Tarrytech is in business to partner with businesses and non-profits,” said Kudla. “We do it better than anyone out there.”
